What we have, and what we don’t
1,374 of these 1,561 programs — 88% — come with a coach’s address already looked up. For the rest, the draft opens with an empty To: and a link to that school’s staff page for you to fill in. We would rather show you a search than a guessed address that bounces.
139 of them ask players to introduce themselves through a recruiting questionnaire instead. That is usually the channel the staff actually reads, not a consolation prize, so it is linked from the draft.
Whatever address you find is saved to your list and nobody else’s. Contacts are never written back to the shared program record — that is how a directory gets quietly repointed at somebody who wants your outreach.
Where the list comes from
The programs are from the federal EADA filings every college sponsoring the sport has to make. The coaches are read off each school’s own published staff page by a crawler that identifies itself and honours robots.txt.
A coach who wants out is out in one click, for every family, permanently.
Angles, not highlights
This is baseball's format, unchanged — same positions, same angles, same things a coach is reading. If a softball coach tells us it is wrong, it changes.
Pitcher

Side view, behind the mound
Stand behind and to the throwing-arm side of the mound. Film 15–20 consecutive pitches — not just the good ones. Coaches read arm action and repeatability, and a reel of only strikeouts tells them nothing about either.

45° toward first base
From roughly 45° off the first-base line, 8–10 pitches. This is the angle that shows stride direction and where the front side lands.
Position player
- 10–15
Behind the catcher
Directly behind the plate, above the backstop if you can. 10–15 swings, live pitching if possible. This is the angle coaches ask for first.

Open side, level with the plate
From the open side, level with the batter. 10–15 swings. Shows the load, the stride and where the barrel enters the zone.
- 6–10
Defensive reps
6–10 fielding reps from a position that shows footwork and the throw completing. A catch with no throw is half a rep.

Measurables carry where they came from — your stopwatch, your coach’s, or a third-party event. Coaches dismiss a whole page over one number that reads as invented.

Both would let us show you impressive numbers that mean nothing. Watch progress is tracked separately, because a scanner never presses play.

Silence is often the rulebook
The NCAA rules bind coaches, not your player, who may email anyone today. The only question is when a coach is allowed to answer — and families read that silence as rejection. Each draft tells you that program’s date before you send it.

D1 softball is not the June 15 date you will see quoted everywhere — that is the general rule, and quoting it to a softball family is simply wrong. Dates re-checked each August.
